MISSOURI CHAPTER OF NENA

from the MOTERT Committee Chair

Greetings to everyone from Jasper County.  As recently appointed TERT Committee Chair I am a bit uncertain of my duties and responsibilities but please be patient.  I have some wonderful ideas for TERT and appreciate all feedback.

If you have not yet visited the MOTERT group space, please take a moment to look at it, the link is at the end of this document.  The site has methods of restricting access, tracking membership and committees, creating sub-groups, posting news and events, uploading photos, and storing documents.  At this point it is a free site but for a small fee it could be much more robust.  That’s a discussion for a later date.

I have uploaded a PSAP survey response document which would allow every member to see agencies information and their capabilities.  Take a look at it and if interested, take a moment to complete the survey and forward it to me and I’ll create a tab for your agency.  I have also uploaded TERT Standards and information on becoming a TERT member and how activation works.  I will add forms as I determine which are most often utilized.  In addition, during active deployments, situational reports and other activity could be uploaded for members to view.

For those of you who are not aware, April Tarrant and I have been spreading the concept of TERT at recent training engagements.  We received a very warm welcome and many kind words after our presentation at the MO-NENA / MO-APCO combined conference and received great hospitality from Iowa, Indiana, and Louisiana Chapters of APCO and/or NENA.  If you would like a copy of the presentation, PSAP Planning – Lessons Learned from the Joplin Tornado, please email me and I’ll get it out to you.  The one-year anniversary of the tornado is fast approaching.  Many activities have been planned for May 22nd and your participation is most welcomed.

Finally, please forward information regarding training, committees, and public safety meetings to other dispatchers in your area.  Many announcements end up on someone’s desk, believe it or not, and the telecommunicators who would most benefit from the information never receive it.
